About the Role
Start your beauty career with a structured pathway into professional braiding. Our Salon Assistant / Braider Trainee supports daily salon operations while learning client preparation, shampooing, sanitation, product knowledge, guest service, and foundational braiding skills. Successful trainees may advance to Junior Braider after completing the training pathway and skills assessment.
What You’ll Do
Welcome guests, confirm appointments, and help prepare clients for service.
Shampoo, rinse, and dry client hair using the appropriate products and techniques.
Prepare tools and materials and assist stylists during services.
Sanitize stations, tools, shampoo areas, and shared spaces.
Support laundry, inventory organization, and supply replenishment.
Answer calls or messages and assist with checkout when assigned.
Capture approved client photos and videos for marketing.
Recommend appropriate products and services under team guidance.
Complete all assigned training modules and skills assessments.
Compensation: $14 per hour with paid training.
Typical training path: salon foundations during months 0–3; add-on services and stylist shadowing during months 3–6; select client services during months 6–12; and eligibility for a Level 1 assessment during months 12–18. Advancement timing depends on demonstrated skill, performance, and business needs.

Requirements
Genuine interest in braiding, natural hair care, and the beauty industry.
Professional attitude, coachability, teamwork, and strong attention to cleanliness.
Reliable transportation and ability to maintain at least 95% training attendance.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Previous salon, beauty-school, or customer-service experience is helpful but not required.
